Power (W) = Voltage (V) × Current (A) × Power Factor. For a purely resistive load, power factor is 1 (e.g., heaters, incandescent bulbs). Motors and inductive loads typically have a power factor of 0.8-0.95, meaning some of the apparent power isn't converted to useful work.
Power (W) = √3 × Voltage (line-to-line) × Current × Power Factor. The √3 (approximately 1.732) accounts for the phase relationship between the three conductors. Three-phase power is standard for industrial motors and heavy equipment due to its efficiency for high-power loads.
