What is TDS and when is it deducted?+

TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is tax collected by the payer before making payment. Under Section 194A, TDS is 10% on interest above ₹40,000 (₹50,000 for seniors). Section 194C covers contractor payments at 1% (individual) or 2% (company). Section 194J covers professional fees at 10%.

What is the TDS rate on salary in India for 2025-26?+
